Resources
Overview
The OrientWalking project has produced two key resources to ensure the continuity and accessibility of its results: a comprehensive Handbook providing guidance on how to plan and manage OrientWalking events, and a dedicated App that allows users to explore routes and discover rural areas across Europe. Both resources are freely available through the project’s online platform.
Orient Your Walking Handbook
The Orient Your Walking Handbook is a practical guide that explains how to design, organise, and implement OrientWalking activities in local contexts.
It outlines the core methodology developed by the project, offering step-by-step guidance for route creation and event management, recommendations on accessibility, inclusion, and safety, examples of good practices collected from the pilot activities in partner countries, and suggestions for long-term community engagement.
The Handbook is available in English and all consortium languages and is intended for educators, coaches, municipalities, NGOs, and sport organisations interested in promoting outdoor and inclusive walking activities.
Orient Your Walking App
The Orient Your Walking App extends the project’s reach to the general public by offering a digital tool to experience OrientWalking routes.
Through an interactive map, users can explore official OrientWalking routes developed during the project, access detailed descriptions and practical information, find upcoming events and community initiatives, and discover insights about local culture, rural tourism, and natural heritage.
The App enhances accessibility to outdoor experiences, encouraging people to connect with nature and their surroundings in a simple and inclusive way.
